While launching and maintaining lively social media pages is a terrific way to keep your customers interested and engaged with your brand, it’s not the only digital marketing strategy you need to put to work for your business this holiday season. Put the following email holiday marketing tips into play to skyrocket your sales throughout November, December, and beyond.

Timing is everything.

Did you know that at least 23% of gifts are bought before Thanksgiving weekend, with another 22% of the purchases occurring on Black Friday and the two days that follow? Even less, about 15%, are purchased in December. If these statistics tell you anything, it should be that you need to get your email marketing campaign up and running early, preferably in mid-October or even more in advance.

Come up with fun, engaging email ideas.

Electronic communications don’t need to be boring or only utilitarian. Be creative to come up with ways to make your messages interactive. Keep them guessing with mystery discounts that they must uncover by clicking on a link, or craft a fun puzzle that they can solve that has a special coupon as a prize.

Entice with discounts and free shipping.

Hopefully, you already have a dynamic loyalty program that rewards patrons for their frequent purchases. Incentivize these brand ambassadors with special members-only price drops and flash sales. Consider offering free shipping to everyone when they click on a link in your message and provide their contact details. This can pad your database for future campaigns.

Include countdown timers in your emails.

During this frantic season, some buyers tend to leave shopping to the last minute. However, their procrastination can mean that online purchases will not be delivered on time. Therefore, include a countdown timer on your messages, and dedicate a special message when the delivery deadline date is closing in so that dilly dalliers can get those items on time.

Spread holiday cheer.

Sure, your electronic messages should highlight products and encourage shoppers to click through to your website. But they can also be sources of happiness and fun that celebrate the season and bring people closer to you and your brand. Share your favorite holiday songs, pass along your best cookie recipes, or send out a homey family photo. When you do, people will begin to see you as not just a seller but a friend with whom they want to connect.

Keep the celebration going.

Even after December has come and gone, you still can keep the holiday warmth flowing with a New Year message. This is the perfect place to encourage customers to treat themselves to items they may have wanted during the holidays but did not receive. It’s also an ideal time to discount seasonal or less popular merchandise that you want to move out of your warehouse. For those buyers that may be burnt out from the shopping extravaganza of the season, give them a nudge with a post-holiday discount, or double loyalty points.

Email remains one of the most powerful ways to keep in touch with your valued customers. Make it work for you before, during, and after this holiday season, and the profits and happy shoppers are sure to follow.
