North American Bancard has introduced a version of its PayAnywhere mobile point-of-sale acceptance service for Android devices, the company announced in a May 26 press release.

The Troy, Mich.-based ISO designed PayAnywhere for merchants that do not necessarily transact every day or every month, Marc Gardner, company president and CEO, told ISO&Agent Weekly in March when the product was introduced for Apple Inc. iPhones.

“Merchants do not pay any fees if they are not swiping or keying in cards,” Gardner said. “So if they have a seasonal business, they don’t pay fees during the off months.”

Supported Android devices include HTC EVO 4G, Motorola Droid, HTC Droid Incredible, Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Galaxy S Epic, the May 26 press release said.

PayAnywhere also is compatible with iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4, as well as iPad, iPad 2 and iPod touch, the release said, and soon will become available for BlackBerry mobile customers, according to the release.

All apps and card readers are free, and features include item inventory management, real-time transaction reports, e-mail receipts with descriptions and images, customized tipping and tax rates, and automatic calculation of local taxes, the release said.

A free merchant portal enables users to set up custom reports and alerts, e-mail or print extra copies of receipts, view monthly statements and make money through referrals, according to the release.
