Aloe Blacc - “I Need a Dollar”

HEY HEY! We could probably all use more than just a dollar — we’re thinking a whole lotta dollars would be way nicer. Still, we are all on the hunt for that extra dollar, sale, or customer. The beat on this song makes us want to weave our heads, zone in, and get to work. In fact, Blacc said the rhythm he used was inspired by recordings of singing “chain gangs,” i.e. prisoners chained together who were performing hard labor. The actual lyrics of this song paint a humbling experience, as they showcase the perspective of a down-and-out individual who really needs just “a dollar” to get by. “I Need a Dollar” gives us perspective, drive, and a good song we can put on when we need to get to work!

Our favorite line: “And if I share with you my story, would you share your dollar with me?”

Europe - "The Final Countdown"

Isn’t there a technique out there that claims you’re at peak productivity when taking a five-minute break every 30 minutes? Well, this song is perfect for that theory. Blast this tune throughout the day or whenever you need to get amped up.

Released in 1986, “The Final Countdown” will still give you a boost of adrenaline even in 2022. However, play at your discretion and seek medical attention if you have the immediate urge to run a marathon, lift heavy objects, or start playing the air guitar or air drums.

Our favorite line: It’s gotta be the guitar solo at 3:17.

Natasha Bedingfield - “Unwritten”

No matter the time or place, we are guaranteed to belt out “FEEL THE RAIN ON YOUR SKIN!” when we hear this one. With catchy lines and an upbeat tune, it’s almost impossible to be in a bad mood when you hear “Unwritten.” We love the message Bedingfield spreads on this classic. The title of this song says it all, each day has endless possibilities, and our future is unwritten. It is up to us to go out there and make the most of our opportunities while pursuing the best in life. Enjoy the journey, and remember every day is a blank slate.

Sing it if you know it! Our favorite line is “Live your life with arms wide open. Today is where your book begins. The rest is still unwritten.”

Journey - “Don’t Stop Believin’”

Uplifting? Check. An all-time rock classic? Check. Mullets? Check. The music video for this one covers it all. Plus, it’s a little reminder to not stop believing in you and your business. You made it this far and have conquered all your hardest days yet. We believe in you!

The origin of this song was inspired as a member of Journey was about to give up on his dream of making music. He wrote this song to turn his struggles into lyrics, and it became the band's first major big hit.

Our favorite line: We’re biased and know there’s no such thing as south Detroit, but we still scream it every time — “Born and raised in south Detroit!

Kelly Clarkson - “What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger)”

No, we’re not going through a breakup, we just think this is a good song.

Whether you want to sing, laugh, or even cry along, this song is perfect for all occasions. Although it's based on a breakup Clarkson went through, we can apply her attitude to the business world. Setbacks are going to happen, and you can’t get hung up when things go bad. One hardship doesn’t mean you're over. Clarkson sings, “stand a little taller” after going through her struggles, meaning she has come out better on the other side. From American Idol to Billboard’s Top 100, Clarkson is an inspirational story all in herself, and we love her message here.

Our favorite line: “What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Stand a little taller. Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone.”

Destiny's Child - “Survivor”

Survivor is filled with positive affirmations that will boost your confidence and get you to where you need to be to win the day. Beyoncé and co. wrote this one after Destiny’s Child had three group members step away. It depicts how they got through some of their toughest moments as a group. “Survivor” has a direct correlation to hardships small business owners can face. It comes with highs and lows. Only the strong survive and, when you do, it is the most rewarding feeling knowing that you did not give up

Our favorite line: “I’m not gon’ give up. I’m not gon’ stop, I’m gon’ work harder. I’m a survivor, I’m gonna make it. I will survive, keep on survivin.’”
